- Visual BASIC, hmm, how can people call it BASIC when it has so many
- extensions to the original language? The only reason people call it BASIC
- is because of a couple of syntax representions of say the IF, assignment
- operators, strings, and automatic creation of variables (BAD IDEA). Other
- than these, Visual BASIC is bears little resemblence to the orginial BASIC.
-
- Worst of all, people use Visual BASIC for magor applications ... I hate
- to debug such chaotic of code .... even if it's supposed to be structure ...
- still looks messy.
-
- As for moving Visual BASIC to Amiga ??? I remember a few years ago of a
- design environment called CANDO. This system was basically like MAC's
- Hyper Crap. It allowed the person to create forms, assign graphics,
- animation, and place code to objects within the forms.
- The language look something like Hyper card, that is to say it had
- statements like 'put x into y' and stuff like that ... not my favourite
- cup of tea (reminds me to much of COBOL).
-
- : None from here! I work as a reports specialist for AT&T in Canada and
- : over 60% of my time is spent developing reporting systems in VBA
- : (VisualBasic for Applications as comes with Excel 5). I've seen the VB4.0
- : programming environment and (as far as the environment goes) it's very
- : slick.
- Microsuck choose BASIC becuase I think it was their first product they
- producted (i.e. BASIC ala commadore 64), plus other platforms. The atfer
- taste can be felt all through Windoze ....
